Can You Just Do That ?

Can You Just Do That?

A friend was watching the news with her family, showing the recent American and Israeli military actions against Iran. In response, her son asked, “Are you allowed to just attack another country like that?" This astute question, from a nine-year-old, is a reminder that you don’t have to be an expert in geopolitics to recognise that the attacks on Iran raise huge ethical questions.

Navigating these issues is remarkably difficult and it causes us to ask, "How do we decide what is right?"

Without a set of guidelines or guardrails for our life, every decision is fraught with difficulties. We should be encouraged that God didn’t leave us alone to work this out. We have God's Word and God's Spirit to help us through these confusing and anxious times.

My prayer for the days and weeks ahead is that we will be prayerful, calm and full of hope. Pray for the people of Iran, that there will be a just outcome and that there will be lasting peace. And pray that times like this will cause people to seek out faith in God, who holds their future in His hands.

Gratitude is said to be a superpower.
Thanks to Karl Faase for his timely thoughts.
