Discernment - The Difference Between Right and Almost Right
Have you noticed that choosing what is right is often not very easy?
We tend to be surprised about this, but we shouldn't be. The problem is that we think the choice is between right and wrong. If only it were that easy.
Years ago the great English preacher C H Spurgeon said, "Discernment is not knowing the difference between right and wrong. It is knowing the difference between right and almost right."
The problem for us is that what ends up being wrong can look right, feel right and seem right, but be wrong.
It's why we need wise and trusted friends, and especially God's Word, to help us find the boundaries.
