Science vs Philosophy ( Re-Work )
Versus or acceptance ?
"The scientific world of matter can be reduced, in some sense, to fundamental constituent elements: molecules, atoms, even quarks. However, the world of experience has primal constituents, as well. These are the necessary elements whose interactions define drama and fiction. One of these is chaos. Another is order. The third (as are three) is the process that mediates between the two, which appears identical to what modern people call consciousness. It is our eternal subjugation to the first two that makes us doubt the validity of our experience -that makes us throw up our hands in despair, and fail to care for ourselves properly. It is proper understanding of the third that allows us the only real way out."
This above passage is extracted from the book,12 Rules for Life: an antidote to chaos. By Jordan. B. Peterson
( verbatim).
This book is my current read. The above extract echoes a part of my long- held beliefs. At least similarly and at its introductory core. Since the ancients have (and i have been able to access ) their philosophy. Life has taken on a desirable and rewarding dimension(s). While I was raised by book learning with lived out experiences, I discovered that many of my core conclusions were predicated on much- thought -out ancient wisdom. Because the ancients were exactly that- ancient. Should not preclude that very knowledge because we are " modern. " it is our arrogance or hubris that we should think ours is the more modern world therefore more excellently advanced than those who went before.
To set aside wisdom and enquiry of the previous 1000s of years as " old " is the height of stupidity.
We exist because not in spite of.
