Struggles and Scars.

Struggles and Scars

Enemies wound, Friends heal, Yeshua transforms

I have a friend who has
struggled with depression at times in her life. Sometimes when she was very low, she resorted to cutting her arms. This is always an act of desperation. She has only shown a few people the results of this behaviour.

One of the first people she showed her scars to reached out and touched her arm. As she did, she said that she was not so much concerned about these scars, but rather the scars on the inside. What an insightful statement this is.

While the scars on my friend's arms are a demonstration of what happens when you feel desperate, the scars on the inside are what do the most damage - scars of emotional pain and distress that refuse to heal or mend.

Jesus said that He will heal us at every level. Jesus can heal us physically, but just as importantly, Jesus will heal the scars on the inside as well. The painful memories and experiences that wound you over and over again can be taken to Jesus who loves, cares and forgives.

it should be noted that this friend  of mine is no longer in my circle of friendships.  So i cannot update you on her life-journey. The last i know of her is that her parents were divorcing and this caused her to cut herself. It was a cry for help and she was hospitalised. I was--at the time-- advised to not further involve myself as she really needed professional help. Although i felt that i was deserting her, i followed that advice.

  1. I hope she is doing now. While if she still suffers, my therapist suggests that write diary and put every bad emotion and thought in it. It’s kinda a ritual that you sort the thing in a certain place or precisely speaking, remove it from your way and you won’t be stumble by it again.

    1. Cindy, human love can heal, especially from a trusted love one. Though invisible, God the Father, loves, dwells and transforms via His people, His Bible and Unmerited Favour melded with His unconditional love. Your idea of journalling your feelings and toxic thoughts is excellant.More people should do it.

  2. Cindy, thank You for caring enough to comment and suggest. We all stumble, but God holds our right hand to prevent a fall. Sometimes I journal via this website. It gives purpose, meaning and more clarity to me.
