Is leprosy present today?

Leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease, is a chronic infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae. It primarily affects the skin, peripheral nerves, and mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.

In the past, leprosy was often associated with sin and ostracized individuals were banished to colonies. However, leprosy is not a punishment for sin but a medical condition.Yet it portrays a   gruesome picture of the ravaging effects  of sin.

In the epic movie, Ben Hur, some  lepers are cleansed of their leprosy miraculously. It should be noted that Isaiah' servant was punished for his greed for money.
While leprosy is now curable with multidrug therapy, it is still prevalent in some parts of the world, particularly in tropical regions like Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial in managing the disease and preventing disabilities associated with it.
